Play This: Silent Hills’ Playable Teaser; It’s Petifrying and We’re Guessing the Game Will Be Too

I didn’t play the playable teaser. Let’s get that straight.

We all know I’m a coward when it comes to horror games. I love them to death, but they also scare me to death. I talk a big game but when I’m holding the controller or the mouse that pause screen is my best friend.

That being said, I would have, had I had access to a PS4, but instead I chose to watch TheRadBrad play it (who made pretty much the same decisions I did, but he probably did them a lot quicker).

So I can agree with the consensus that this game looks fabulous. The graphics of this game both terrify me and amaze me with its beauty. They really took advantage of everything the PS4 has to offer graphics-wise to give us a teaser that will show you every facet of your fear in a small hallway.

The teaser is a repeated loop of a hallway in a house where something horrific has happened. I won’t give anything away about what happens in the game, other than the fact that it is a loop format. The point of the teaser is to allow you to experience fear, and there still is an uncounted amount of ways to complete the game. People have reported finishing it in an hour to taking up to four. But the effect is the same. Hideo’s intention is to scare you.

After being released, it’s confirmed that although this teaser is for the new Silent Hill game, its story has nothing to do with the future Silent Hills game. It is meant to set the bar for the horror, bring up the hype, and taunt you until 2016 when the game is set to release. It sets a startling new tone that will undoubtedly make Kojima and Del Toro the leaders of a new era in horror video games.

The end of the PT comes with a trailer for the actual game, and another surprise when we see it starring The Walking Dead‘s Norman Reedus aka Daryl Dixon. Let’s see, Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro AND Norman Reedus? If that doesn’t make you want to play this game you should definitely check out the PT then (though admittedly part of me really does not want to play this game when it comes out, but that’s the same part of me that watched the play through through my hands).

If you have a PS4, I encourage you to try out the Silent Hills PT… with friends… in broad daylight… with the mute button at hand. Or if you’re brave, go ahead and do none of that and just play it! If you don’t have access to a PS4 like me, check out TheRadBrad’s playthrough or PewDiePie’s.

      • Well for me personally it was hit & miss. I love horror/psychological thriller games. I got spooked by #1 because I’d never played anything like it. #2 isn’t bad either, but I’d avoid the HD remaster edition. I *love* Shattered Memories on the PSP. As for #3 & homecoming I didn’t find them that scary. I really didn’t like Homecoming and only played a bit of Origins, but wasn’t that into it either. Haven’t played Downpour though. So long response short, 1,2,(maybe 3), and Shattered Memories are where I put my money on gameplay + scariness.

  1. I actually considered running out and buying a PS4 just to play this… Behold the power of Silent Hill.

  2. Played the thing from start to end with a little help of beer and walkthrough. It just blows my mind to even think how fast someone had figured those little puzzles all by themselves.
