If you’re into data crunching and potato salad, Kickstarter has put together a great look at the now-infamous Potato Salad Kickstarter. It beat out both the Oculus Rift and the Reading Rainbow Kickstarters in page views – and that’s just the start of the interesting info they throw out about it.
After SDCC and all of the the inevitable swapping of business cards, I can’t help but think this is an ingenious idea. The gif above demonstrates a paper USB business card that would allow you to transfer pictures, videos, websites, and other information along with your business card. There’s also back-end software that allows you to look at the analytics of your card and how it is being used. You can even edit the information on the cards after you’ve given them out. Can’t get to a USB port immediately? There’s a QR code on the back and it operates wirelessly, meaning it will load on compatible devices automatically. Right now, the cards are a little pricey for the casual business card user, but I can see where this might be the future of business card swapping.

An alphabet board book that features Lovecraft? Throw in an Eisner Award nominated author and a brilliant digital artist and check out some of the art? I don’t even have kids and I want this book. It’s quirky, it’s fun, and they’re giving more and more copies to libraries as they get further beyond their initial goal.
Under $20 Rewards: For $5, you can get a digital copy of the book. For $10, you’ll get the digital copy of the book and 100 concept sketches and designs that weren’t included. In the same vein as other young, female detectives (Veronica Mars, Nancy Drew!) Jenny LeClue comes from the college town of Arthurton, taking on her own mother’s case when she’s accused of murder! A coming of age tale that includes choose-your-own adventure aspects and gorgeous artwork, the story features twists, turns and many complex characters. Meant for PC, Mac, and Linux, there are plans to possibly expand in the future. Not to mention, the bonus rewards beyond the game are super creative and cool. Survival kit? Bookmark? Yep, they’ve got both!
Under $20 Rewards: For $15, you’ll get a digital copy of every episode of Jenny LeClue that is released through the Kickstarter, as well as a Steam key (if that becomes a reality), and a backstarter exclusive wallpaper.
