We’re Going Up to the Spirit In The Sky in the New “Guardians of the Galaxy” Trailer!

Today was an exciting nerd day for me. The first four episodes of Sailor Moon premiered on Hulu and Lumberjanes got promoted to a monthly ongoing series instead of an eight issue mini-series. Huzzah!

However, I truly could not start this nerd day of awesome until I watched the new full-length Guardians of the Galaxy trailer!

This film has been at the top of my to see list for this summer since the teaser debuted back in February. Hell, I’ve been eagerly awaiting this trailer since I finished watching that trailer. I just want this movie in my life so bad.

Lucky for me, the new trailer definitely made me want even more Guardians. ‘Spirit in the Sky’ features in the trailer alongside ‘Hooked on a Feeling’ and I practically squealed with delight. I’ve associated that song with outer space since I was a tiny thing watching Apollo 13 with my parents, where the film’s Fred Haise (portrayed by Bill Paxton) played the song during the TV broadcast back to Earth instead of ‘Also Sprach Zarathustra.’ To hear it against these clips of aliens fighting to protect the galaxy just gave me extra feelings.

We also finally hear from Groot and Rocket! Gamora and Nebula get right in each other’s faces! GLENN CLOSE AS NOVA PRIME! And John C. Reilly getting the best line of the trailer that could also be the name of my memoir about my life since college.

There’s also more shirtless Star Lord. I have priorities.

Guardians of the Galaxy releases on August 1. Watch the trailer below or follow this link to watch it on Facebook.
