I have been waiting so long to read this book. Not because I have any intention of turning my cats into Internet celebrities (okay, so, maybe I do) but because it just seemed like so much fun. I can’t sing enough praises for the geniuses over at Quirk Books. There hasn’t been a book they’ve sent out yet that I haven’t enjoyed and this one is no exception.

How to Make Your Cat an Internet Celebrity is pretty much the perfect gift book. It’s a lot of fun and it’s a humorous little parody of our Internet obsession with other peoples’ cats. Anyone who enjoys watching cats do stupid things on YouTube or filming their own cats doing stupid stuff to put up on Facebook will appreciate it. Even if you don’t read through it all there are tons of awesome pictures of cats with quirky little comments and things written on then.

This adorable cat. This adorable angle.

Basically the cover of the book sets the bar for everything and it’s fantastic.

Now, don’t take this as an actual guide to your own financial success via your fluffy companions. I mean, it definitely offers some good tips here and there about things like props, costumes, angles, etc. There’s over twenty some situational recommendations for videos and how to do them right. These ideas include things like: cats + dogs, cats + babies, Roombas, string, and other things. Plus there are sections on picking out stage names, figuring out your cat’s personality type, and deciding what kind of videos work best with your particular cat.

Do you have a scary, ugly beast? My friend, Hal, does.

But it doesn’t give you a whole lot of specifics on any one thing. I go back and forth on whether or not that would be useful because, in the end, it doesn’t matter what sort of camera you use or what kind of video editing software you use. If you’re putting that much effort into things you’re probably not doing cat videos right.

Of course, that’s not what this book would say.

Cat Internet video business is a very serious business.

Final Thoughts:
This is kind of a must-have book for cat video aficionados and Internet fans all around. Whether you  frequent 4chan or Reddit you know that the driving force behind everything is cute cats. Have your belief in that validated with this book and then maybe turn your own prized kitty into a cash cow yourself.

Though, it hasn’t been working out very well for me so far.
